What Would Lu Do?
LuAnn K Brown, MSW, LSCW
March 13, 1956 - October 12, 2018
Named both Washington State’s Social Worker of the Year (2001) and the WA State Chapter of the National Association of Social Worker's Educator of the year (2006) Lu Brown spent her life in service to others. Lu earned her MSW from EWU School of Social Work in 1996. She worked with countless BASW, MSW students and community social workers at the School of Social Work at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA
Lu manifested a career that helped change the lives of countless students, colleagues, and citizens of the society she worked so tirelessly to serve.
Lu was a fearless advocate for social justice and equality.
Her students manifested our mantra:
What Would Lu Do?
Our goal is to fund an Endowed* Scholarship on behalf of Lu Brown at universities with a School of Social Work across the U.S. Our first endowment at EWU awarded our inaugural scholarships in June 2020.
*The Lu Brown Legacy Foundation is not managing the endowment capital once invested in the endowment. Each one will be set up within the existing endowment programs at the university.
We have developed a marketing program that is designed to both raise funds, as well as raise awareness of our foundations and it's goals. It's a Thank You card to give to Social Workers (and other helpers) in the field, at their desk, in the hospitals, schools and hallways where they work.
The general Thank You allows you to give them in many situations.
Have you seen someone perform a random act of kindness? Nothing heroic just something that proves they are "social worker material". Sharing a "Thanking Helpers" card with them might light a fire.

Your tax deductible contribution will enable us to support Lu's Legacy.
We are grateful for your generosity.
